What is NATE Training?

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

If you have visited an air conditioning and heating repair or installation company in Daytona Beach or Orlando, Florida recently, you may have noticed the word NATE showcased on the walls and on the company website. NATE is the acronym for the North American Technician Excellence program. Service technicians with NATE certification have passed coursework beyond the initial training required to gain employment in the HVAC field. NATE is a nationally recognized program in the air conditioning and heating repair or installation industry and is recognized as a sign of excellence everywhere.

When you contact an air conditioning and heating repair or installation provider in Daytona Beach or Orlando, be sure to ask if their technicians have NATE certification; this is your assurance that the company believes in high training standards for its employees and complete satisfaction for its customers. While not all technicians may have earned the NATE designation, the process should at least be underway. Another question you want to ask the air conditioning and heating repair or installation company is the type of background check each technician had to pass before becoming an employee.

In addition to having NATE certified technicians, you also want to make sure the HVAC provider has a good reputation in the community. One way of checking on this is to obtain a free consumer report from the Better Business Bureau. Another way is to look on consumer review websites such as Angie's List to read what other customers in Daytona Beach or Orlando have to say about the company you are considering hiring. Finally, don't overlook the importance of gathering information by word of mouth.
